Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention:
The philanthropy programs of Delta Phi Lambda focus on women and children on the national and local levels. We support programs that promote the well-being of women and children because they represent the future of our society.
Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention is Delta Phi Lambda’s national philanthropy. Our philanthropy is unique to the Greek community because of its preventative stance. We advocate living a healthy lifestyle and educating our youth to take preventive measures now so that they may reduce the chance of developing problems as they grow older. We strive to raise awareness on this subject, host events and conduct projects to raise money for the National Osteoporosis Foundation and the Better Bones, Better Bodies Osteoporosis Education Project. Women are at a substantially higher risk of suffering from low bone density. In addition, due to their smaller frames and diet, Asian women are at a higher risk of brittle bones and preventative measures should be taken now in our early adulthood.
Our Local Philanthropy:
In Atlanta, our sisters find many opportunities to go out an support the community.
We volunteer at CPACS(Center for Pan Asian Community Services), helping with voter registration and citizenship applications. We often end up working with sisters from the GSU, UGA, and GT chapters!
We volunteer at Emory events and even find our own ways to help around the Atlanta Area!
